American Chippendale cherry wood grandfather clock case only @ 1785 Original
eBay American Chippendale cherry wood grandfather clock case only @ 1785. This case came together with the 8 day painted dial movement, pair cast lead weights, weight pulleys, and pendulum that I also have for sale this week. Please see my other listings for these other early American grandfather clock items. This case is very impressive measuring 101" tall x 20 1/2" wide x 11" deep. The dial surround in the bonnet measures 11 7/8" wide x 15 7/8" tall. The period Chippendale solid cherry wood case is very attractive, and retains its excellent original color and finish. I would guess this case originates from the Philadelphia area, or southern Pennsylvania Maryland Case is solid and ready to go, with normal minor age expected shrinkage and nicks and blemishes. Quite a beautiful case with amazing detail including dovetail construction, dentil molding to the top of the bonnet, an inlaid center finial support, a beautiful applied panel to the base, and fluted quarter columns to both the trunk and base. Case is heavy and very good. Please see the photos attached for the complete description, and ask any questions you may have. No reserve. Shipping in the Eastern USA can be arranged by blanket wrap antique mover service, which I would estimate to be $300.00, depending on exact location. No shipping West of the Mississippi River is offered. I will also deliver this case to a 100 mile radius of Chicago for $100.00. Please message me for details. (Condition: Pre-Owned)

Birge, Mallory & Co. Triple Decker Clock, 8 Day T&S, Nice & Working, Ca. 1840
A very nice Birge, Mallory & Co. triple decker clock, currently working. Birge, Mallory & Co. Triple Decker Clock, 8 Day T&S, Nice & Working, Ca. 1840 Birge, Mallory & Co. Triple Decker Clock, 8 Day T&S, Nice & Working, Ca. 1840 Click images to enlarge Description Heritage Matters BIRGE, MALLORY & CO. CLOCK TRIPLE DECKER GLASS OF STREET TOWN SCENE 8 DAY T&S, WORKING CONDITION Ca. 1837 - 1843 THIS is a guaranteed genuine antique Birge, Mallory & Co. triple decker 8 day time & strike clock, circa 1837 - 1843. It is a weight clock, with an 8 day strap brass movement. John Birge, born 1785, fought in the war of 1812 and was originally a carriage maker. He went into the clock business with Titus Merriman as early as 1822, then with various others until about 1855. His partnership with Ransom Mallory was fairly short lived, only from 1837 until 1843. Consequently, clocks with that label can be dated within those 6 or 7 years. This clock has a typical strap brass movement, which has been cleaned and restrung (with brass cables) in the past few years. All I did was to lubricate it, and it is currently running and striking correctly. It strikes the hour only. The pendulum bob, weights, and even the key to the doors are original, while the glasses, hands, and winding crank have been replaced with reproductions. The case has been nicely refinished. The side "arm" on the top right appears to be a repl;acement. As the photos show, there are some paint losses on the face, but it does retain its original mirror which can be raised to show the movement. There are minor chips to the veneer, and some old repairs replacement to the veneer. The splat is not typical for triple deckers, but is not unknown either. I have found several in various sources with such splats, and since Birge & Mallory began making clocks at the end of the half column and splat era, it is entirely possible that it is original. It has "tin can" pulley covers. The clock is approximately 35 X 17 X 6 inches. For safety, the weights will be shipped in a separate box. I sell all electrical and mechanical devices in "as-is" condition as they can easily get out of adjustment or even broken in transit. If there is damage, this must be pursued through an insurance claim. After that is settled, assuming notification is made within the inspection period, the clock can be returned. Should you be disappointed with the clock, or simply change your mind, you have a 30 day inspection period during which the item can be returned for any reason for a refund of the purchase price--however it must be returned in the same condition in which I shipped it, meaning if there is damage, an insurance claim must be made. Because of the clock's size and weight, it will be fairly expansive to ship. However, sometimes eBay's shipping calculator is inaccurate, so feel free to contact me for a binding shipping cost. The calculator does not include shipping discounts (if any), but I pass those on to the customer. NO RESERVE! MY PLEDGE TO YOU: no surprises! I will provide high-resolution scans; I will fully describe each item, obverse and reverse, positives and negatives, possibilities, likelihoods, what I suspect, and which is which; and I will provide as much historical context as I can. Now, I believe that the only people who never make mistakes are those who never say or do anything, so consequently, there will be times I am wrong. There, you are covered by my guarantee. MY GUARANTEE TO YOU: I guarantee each item to be genuine as described. After you receive your purchase, you will have a 30 day inspection period; and if you are dissatisfied, simply return the item (in its original condition) for an immediate refund of your purchase price. Furthermore, if in the inspection period, you decide to send the item for expertizing, I will extend the period until its return from the expert of your choice. If it returns with an opinion of not genuine, or of being significantly different from how I describe it, I will also reimburse you for the expertizing fee. And the ONLY exception to my guarantee is that I am not responsible for mishandling by the mail system, and any damages incurred therein. That is what insurance is for, and it is automatic on this item.
