Franklin Mint Royal Geographical Society Millennium Clock Made in a LIMITED EDITION, with a skeleton movement and animated features of a rotating Earth and Moon. The earth rotates in a 24-hour cycle and the moon revolves around the earth. This Franklin Mint Royal Geographical Society Millennium Clock is fitted with a solid brass 8-day wind-up movement created exclusively by Hermle & Sohn of Germany and consists of a cobalt blue glass earth-globe accented with 24 karat gold, a satellite moon of blue lace agate and a time band which revolves with the moon as it circles the globe. It also contains a battery operated digital display that counts down the days to the year 2000 and can be re-set to display the month, day and year. The clock is embellished with richly engraved plates and rests on columns of genuine marble accented with 24 k gold. The entire work is mounted in a clear glass dome.This limited-edition Millennium Clock from the Franklin Mint was commissioned by the Royal Geographic Society of Great Britain.
