Vintage Imperial Brevettato Clock & Candelabras 3-Piece Set. Keeps Time/Chimes
Very heavy French style clock and a pair of large matching candelabras in green marble and gold metal. Very heavy! Each stick has 7 candleholders at varying heights atop an urn surrounded with cherubs and garlands.CLOCK: The clock is supported on four clawed lions' feet with two satyrs holding braid over their shoulders. The clock face has Roman numerals and measures 4" in diameter. There are rooster heads at the top of the clock section with an urn. It appears that the clock may have been repaired previously - note the screw holding the satyrs' garland to the main body of the clock. As a result, the left satyr can rotate slightly on one hoof, but he can be rotated back into position to hold the garland. When turned it isn't very noticeable - only caught it during photos. Swing panel in the back opens for winding with included key. Clock measures just over 24" H X 14" W x 8". I tested it for 24 hours and it kept time. It chimes on the 30-minute mark and on each hour mark it chimes the number of hours it is. Movement was made in Germany, clock was made in Italy. Approximately 30 lbs.CANDELABRAS: Each stick has 7 candleholders at varying heights atop an urn surrounded with cherubs and garlands. Supported by clawed lions' feet with a medallion on the front. The cherubs' finish differs slightly different between the candlesticks - one is slightly more gold - but they are a matching set (see photos). 24"h x 12"w (bottom of base approx 6"w) Approximately 12.9 lbs each. Antique S Marti & Cie French Medaille de Bronze (Bronze Medal Winner 1855 Expo mark) Mantel Clock Bronze/Gold Ormolu/Gilt and Blue Floral Painted Porcelain Case. The movement is marked in a medallion MEDAILLE DE BRONZE S MARTI et CIE meaning it won the Bronze Medal at the 1855 Worlds Expo. It has the number 35 below the medallion mark, and #2592 on the right side. The pendulum is marked with the same matching number! MATCHING NUMBERS! The left top side is also marked C.J.C.C. In a square, indicating (I believe) it was imported by Charles Jacques Clock Company of New York. ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS! Heavy metal with Bronze Gold coloring, porcelain hand painted flowers, stunning porcelain face and an urn style porcelain top. Beautiful beveled glass door, and ornate back door. In very Good vintage condition, has been cared for. Estate find, unknown history. The case Does have a crack in one urn arm, the left metal arm that wraps the urn. Has a few paint scuffs on the urn, and a few scuffs on the feet. Runs, however I can NOT keep it running. It will run till the pendulum loses momentum, it will chime if the pendulum is moving when the hand hits the hour. Will not chime by just moving hands.
